ITU-CEDM (Istanbul Technical University- Center of Excellence for Disaster Management) is established to serve activities eg. training,consulting and research to the public and to all establishments in our country. The activities in the center is conducted by FEMA certified faculty members and experts in disaster management field. The broad aims of the center are to follow up the principles of modern disaster and emergency management, to develop strategies and projects due to developments, to construct a bridge between neighboring countries and developed countries specifically in disaster management.

Our faculty members are motivated to conduct research and education development activities coodinating with ITU Earthquake Engineering and Disaster Management Institute for MSc Program comprising all levels of disaster and emergency management eg. preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery phases ranging from natural disasters to man-made. The center aims to serve these activities originated from our province to our country and circling our region to the world. Due to the enlarging scope of the center, the pure aim is to serve for "human being" as it is indicated in its logo. The center is established with volunteer attempts, latterly anticipated "public protection" strategy in disaster management.
